Siobhan Fahey

Siobhan Fahey is the sort of artist I deeply respect: someone who refuses to stand still. She helped power Bananarama to a US number one with Venus, then, instead of cashing in on that success, walked away to form Shakespears Sister and topped the UK chart all over again with Stay. That restlessness, that unwillingness to repeat herself, is rarer than talent. Her light contralto carries a depth most pop voices never reach, and she writes and directs as readily as she sings. From Dublin outward, she has always chased her own vision rather than the trend. That integrity is what I find truly compelling.
