My Take
Siouxsie Sioux is less a singer to me than an entire aesthetic. As the voice and chief lyricist of Siouxsie and the Banshees, she dragged punk's raw energy into something gothic, theatrical, and beautiful, and you would struggle to find a later alternative or goth act that hasn't borrowed her shadow. The striking makeup and stage command were never trend-chasing; they came from conviction, a refusal to bend to fashion. The MOJO recognition feels almost beside the point. I reserve my deepest respect for artists who build their own world and never apologize for it, and her influence still hasn't faded.
