Taiga Hirasawa

Taiga Hirasawa, born in Tagajo, Miyagi Prefecture in 1997, is an infielder for the Saitama Seibu Lions after starting his professional career with the Chiba Lotte Marines. Lotte's first-round pick in 2015, he won the Eastern League batting title in 2022 and moved to Seibu through the December 2024 active-player draft. Professional baseball is mostly this. Underneath the handful of names everyone knows sits a large population of players grinding through seasons in relative quiet. Changing organisations makes that harder rather than easier: you arrive somewhere new and have to earn recognition from zero, in front of people with no memory of your best days. I find unfinished careers more interesting than settled ones, and his is still open.
