My Take
At 168 cm he's not the biggest guy on the field, but baseball history is full of players who made that work through smarts and feel rather than raw size. He won a batting title and a stolen-base crown in the independent league, reached Rakuten as a developmental player, and after leaving pro ball went home to Sakurai to coach kids while still playing club baseball. I find that kind of under-the-radar grind genuinely compelling. You don't hear his name in highlight reels, but someone who keeps lacing up cleats for a club team after leaving pro ball is doing something right. I'd love to see more of him.
