Tal Bachman

Tal Bachman holds a warm spot in my memory thanks to "She's So High," his 1999 hit that earned a BMI award in 2000. Born in Winnipeg in 1968, he carries serious musical pedigree as the son of Randy Bachman, and he now plays in Bachman-Turner Overdrive. What impresses me most is that he scored his own breakout rather than coasting on the family name. That song still captures the bittersweet, melodic sheen of late-nineties rock perfectly, and I quietly respect an artist who proved he belonged on his own terms before joining the family band.
