My Take
Terry Pratchett is, to me, one of the great humane voices in modern fiction. The forty-one Discworld novels are far more than comic fantasy; they are sharp satire wrapped in warmth, smuggling moral insight past readers who came only to laugh. His collaboration with Neil Gaiman on Good Omens remains a joy. Knighted, garlanded with the Carnegie Medal and countless other honours, he never lost his earthy, generous touch. What moves me most is that he kept writing after revealing his Alzheimer's diagnosis, turning private struggle into public courage. I doubt we will see his particular blend of mischief and kindness again.
