Tetsuya Watari

Watari took a newcomer prize in 1965 and a Blue Ribbon for best actor in 1977. Then, twenty years later, another one for supporting work. That last award says the most: a leading man who took the smaller chair and still walked off with it. Japan gave him the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2005. He died in 2020.
