My Take
Todd McFarlane is one of the most consequential figures in modern comics, and I don't say that lightly. His Spider-Man art redefined what kinetic linework could look like, but his real legacy is structural: co-founding Image Comics gave creators ownership of their work, reshaping the entire industry's power dynamics. Spawn proved a single artist could build a lasting universe on his own terms. The Grammy on top of his Inkpot and Joe Shuster awards still makes me grin. What I admire most is his refusal to stay in one lane, drawing, writing, building a toy empire. He bet on himself and won.
