Tomohiro Kuroki

I have a soft spot for pitchers like Tomohiro Kuroki, the kind who throw with their whole heart on the line. He was the gutsy right-handed ace of the Chiba Lotte Marines through the late '90s, a Miyazaki kid who pitched like every game was personal, and you could feel it from the stands. He didn't have a flashy delivery, but there was this stubborn, never-say-die fire in the way he gritted his teeth and kept battling, even when his arm clearly wasn't a hundred percent. That's the stuff that sticks with me. These days he's passing that intensity on as a commentator and coach, and honestly, when a guy who competed that hard talks baseball, every word carries weight. A pure bundle of fight, this one.
