My Take
Tony McNamara is, to me, one of the sharpest voices working in screen comedy, and his blend of poison and laughter is exactly my taste. His scripts for The Favourite and Poor Things, both with Yorgos Lanthimos, wrap genuine menace in elegant wit, the sort of writing that makes you laugh and then quietly unsettles you. Winning the European Film Award for both Best Film and Best Comedy confirms that the world recognizes his gift for striking the heart while keeping you amused. Born in 1967 with a playwright's ear for dialogue, he has me eager to see whatever twisted story he conjures next.
