Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez is a genuinely gifted artist, and that talent is exactly why his story feels so complicated to me. Born Daystar Peterson in Brampton, Ontario, discovered by Sean Kingston, he fuses R&B and hip-hop with a fluency few rappers manage, and the Juno recognition wasn't an accident. His hooks stick in your head whether you want them to or not. Yet I can't write about him purely as a musician; the talent makes you wish the larger narrative had gone differently. I keep my appraisal honest: real ability, undeniable ear, and a legacy I find impossible to discuss in simple terms.
