Tyler Mane

Tyler Mane is my go-to example of physical presence doing the heavy lifting. Born Daryl Karolat in Saskatoon and a wrestler before Hollywood, he turned that enormous frame into genuinely unsettling villains, Sabretooth in X-Men and Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween. What impresses me is how much he conveys without dialogue; he dominates a frame purely through body and stillness, a skill clearly forged in the ring. He brought the same weight to Ajax in Troy, and the fact that he also writes shows there is a thinker behind the muscle. I am a sucker for monster roles you cannot forget.
