Tyron Woodley is one of those fighters who never quite got the credit he deserved during his prime, and that still bugs me a little. He came out of Ferguson, Missouri, wrestled at an elite level for the Missouri Tigers, and then quietly built one of the most quietly dominant UFC welterweight reigns in recent memory — four successful title defenses, beating the likes of Robbie Lawler, Demian Maia, and Stephen Thompson twice. His combination of explosive wrestling and knockout power was genuinely elite, yet he always seemed to be fighting for respect as much as for the belt. The later losses to Kamaru Usman and then back-to-back defeats to Jake Paul were rough to watch, but they don't erase what he built at the top. A legitimately underrated champion who deserved louder appreciation in his day.
