My Take

What I find compelling about U-God is that he's been there from the very start of Wu-Tang Clan, and being one founding member of a nine-deep collective is its own kind of feat. In a crew full of larger-than-life voices, his deep tone and that flow that slides between gruff and smooth gave him a distinct lane. Being born in Brooklyn in 1970 puts him right in that era and place where the group's whole mythology took root. I respect the longevity here. Sticking with one collective from inception while still keeping your own identity intact takes real staying power.
