Venetian Snares

Venetian Snares, the alias of Aaron Funk, is one of those artists I respect more than I can casually listen to, and I mean that as a compliment. Emerging from Winnipeg, he helped invent and popularise breakcore, a genre so dense and aggressive it almost dares you to keep up. As a Planet Mu cornerstone, he never softened his vision for wider appeal; he simply translated the chaos in his head straight into sound. There is something fitting about this music being born in the long, brutal Manitoba winters. I deeply admire artists this uncompromising.
