My Take

Will Hughes is an English midfielder I've always felt was a touch unlucky with timing and injuries. He broke through as a teenager at Derby County, looking like a future England regular, all neat passing and an unmistakable shock of long hair. The move to the Premier League, Watford and then Crystal Palace, never quite let that early promise fully bloom, but on his day he glues a midfield together intelligently. He's English, Weybridge-born 1995, not American as the data says. I rate him as the kind of tidy, unshowy player coaches love more than highlight reels do.
