My Take
Will Poulter strikes me as one of the smartest casting decisions any director can make. He has a face built for villainy — those famous brows, that unsettling stare — yet by every account he is one of the kindest people in the business, and that tension powers his best work. From the bratty Eustace in Narnia to his BAFTA win and Emmy-nominated turns, he keeps choosing roles that weaponize discomfort. I especially admire his openness about mental health and online bullying. Plenty of actors can play menace; Poulter plays the humanity underneath it, which is far harder and far more interesting to watch.
