My Take

What I admire most about Asim Chaudhry is the warmth underneath the absurdity. Chabuddy G could easily have been a one-note caricature, but Chaudhry plays him with such affection that the character's delusional optimism becomes oddly moving. That, to me, is the mark of a writer-performer who genuinely loves the people he satirizes. Co-creating People Just Do Nothing and steering it to a Royal Television Society Award proves he is more than a funny face; he is an architect of comedy. I suspect his best work as a director is still ahead of him, and I will be watching for it.
