Yong Jun-hyung

Yong Jun-hyung interests me as a K-pop figure who refused to stay a performer only. Rising with Beast, now Highlight, he doubled as a songwriter and producer, and that self-sufficiency tends to give an idol's catalogue a sturdier backbone. I respect artists who understand the machinery behind their own songs rather than simply singing what they are handed. Whatever turns his public life has taken, the instinct to keep building music from the inside out is the part I find most compelling. He strikes me as a maker as much as a star, and that distinction matters.
