My Take

Zeno Roth is the kind of musician I think gets unfairly filed under a famous sibling's shadow, and that always feels like a disservice. Yes, he was the younger brother of Uli Jon Roth, but his own neoclassical and blues-leaning guitar playing had its own temperament. Coming out of Dusseldorf in the German rock scene, he carved a path as a guitarist, songwriter, and composer rather than just trading on the family name. His death in 2018 at 61 closed a quieter chapter of German guitar history that I suspect more listeners will eventually discover. I respect players like him who keep refining a style without chasing the spotlight.
