My Take

Aaron Russo is the sort of restless operator I can't help finding compelling. He produced hits like Trading Places and The Rose, then reinvented himself as a political activist who refused to stay quiet. That arc, from entertainment dealmaker to outspoken provocateur, reads to me as the work of a born instigator who couldn't sit still. His views drew plenty of controversy, and I don't have to agree with them to respect the conviction behind them. I'd rather study someone who threw himself headlong at what he believed than someone who played it safe. He left a mark, and that's rare.
