My Take
Ab-Soul fascinates me precisely because he never chased the spotlight the way his Black Hippy peers did. Sharing a label and a crew with Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q could have left anyone in the shadows, yet Soul carved his own lane through dense, philosophical, almost esoteric lyricism. I admire artists who win loyalty through depth rather than spectacle, and that is exactly his appeal. He is the rapper's rapper, the one fans cite to prove they listen closely. To me, that kind of quietly fierce integrity tends to age far better than chart dominance ever does.
