Adonis

Adonis earns my deep respect as one of the architects of Chicago acid house. Born Michael Smith in 1963, he helped shape a sound that quietly rewired global dance music, with "No Way Back" still echoing in clubs decades later. What moves me is how a handful of foundational tracks can outweigh any flashy résumé, that's the mark of a true pioneer. I'm drawn to artists who stood at the source of a movement rather than riding its wave. To me, Adonis embodies the understated greatness of innovators whose influence is everywhere even when their name isn't loudly spoken.
