My Take
Adrian Peterson is, to me, one of the purest running backs I've ever watched. Fifteen NFL seasons and that freshman record of 1,925 rushing yards at Oklahoma in 2004 still floors me, because the position chews players up and he kept producing well past the point most backs fade. Coming out of Palestine, Texas, born in 1985, he ran with a combination of power and patience that felt almost old-fashioned. I tend to be cautious calling anyone the greatest, but when people argue he belongs in that conversation, I genuinely understand the case. He simply refused to wear down the way the math said he should.
