Adrian Smith

Adrian Smith is the Iron Maiden guitarist I keep coming back to, precisely because his playing carries melody where the band trades in thunder. The story of a Hackney kid catching the rock bug at fifteen and picking up the guitar through his friendship with Dave Murray is pure origin-myth charm. But what fascinates me is the breadth: songwriter, singer, and painter. A man who shreds on stage and holds a paintbrush in the quiet hours embodies the marriage of ferocity and finesse, and I have a deep soft spot for that kind of two-handed artistry.
