My Take

Aksel Hennie is one of those Norwegian actors I think international audiences met sideways, through Max Manus or his turn in The Martian, without realizing how deep his roots run at home. The stack of Amanda Awards tells me he's taken seriously across the table in Norway, not just as an actor but as a director and writer too. I respect performers who built their reputation behind the camera as well as in front of it. His breakout, Uno, came from his own pen, and that kind of self-made start always reads to me as someone who refused to wait for permission.
