Albert Moses

Albert Moses deserves more credit than history tends to give the supporting comic. Born in British Ceylon in 1937 and building a career in Britain, he played Ranjeet across every series of Mind Your Language, becoming a pillar of that ensemble's laughs. Making audiences laugh as an immigrant in a foreign country is no small feat, and I respect the resilience it took. That he held a St John honour suggests a generous character behind the comedy. He passed in 2017, and I find myself wanting to applaud exactly these unsung load-bearers of an era.
