Alexander Bard

Alexander Bard fascinates me precisely because he refuses a single label. A founding force in Army of Lovers, he is also an economist, sociologist, poet, and co-architect of the Syntheist movement, which is a wildly improbable resume. What I admire is that the flamboyant pop persona was never the whole story; underneath ran a restless intellect constantly theorizing about technology, society, and belief. Plenty of musicians dabble in ideas, but few build entire philosophical frameworks. I find that combination of spectacle and serious thought genuinely rare, and even where I might disagree with him, I never find him boring.
