Anant Nag

Anant Nag is the sort of actor I quietly treasure. More than 300 films, the bulk in Kannada cinema, is a staggering body of work, and he managed it while also serving as a politician. I am drawn to performers who carry a regional cinema on their shoulders rather than chasing Bollywood's spotlight, and his Filmfare Awards South recognition reflects that loyalty to his own language and audience. That he debuted in parallel cinema with Sankalpa in 1973 and is still revered today tells me the craft was real, not manufactured. South Indian film history is richer for artists like him, and I am glad to highlight him.
