My Take

André 3000 is genuinely one of those artists who makes you feel lucky to exist in the same era. As one half of Outkast alongside Big Boi, he helped drag hip-hop out of its regional boxes — their run from Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik through Speakerboxxx/The Love Below is just untouchable. And "Hey Ya!" alone would cement most careers. What I love most about him is the restlessness: he was never content to just rap, he sang, acted, wore wild outfits, and eventually put down the microphone for years. His 2023 flute album New Blue Sun genuinely surprised people, and that willingness to confuse expectations is exactly why he's revered. He could've coasted on legacy but instead kept chasing whatever actually interested him. Respect.
