My Take

Andrew Stockdale is, to my mind, one of rock's great stubborn survivors. As the lead voice, lead guitar, and only constant member of Wolfmother, he kept a sound alive through lineup upheaval that would have sunk lesser bands. I respect that kind of conviction. There is something gloriously unfashionable about a Brisbane kid resurrecting heavy seventies riffs and refusing to apologize for it. His howl is divisive, sure, but I would rather hear an artist commit fully to a vision than chase trends. Stockdale commits, and that is why I keep listening.
