Anette Olzon

Taking over lead vocals in Nightwish was one of the toughest jobs in metal, and that is exactly why Anette Olzon fascinates me. Following a beloved predecessor, she carried a symphonic powerhouse from 2007 to 2012 with a brighter, more pop-leaning voice that split fans down the middle. I admire that she kept singing through the scrutiny, then built a second life with Alyson Avenue and The Dark Element. To me her story is about resilience as much as range, a Swedish singer who refused to be defined solely by one band's shadow.
