My Take
Annie Potts is, to me, the gold standard of the character actor: someone who makes every project measurably better without demanding the spotlight. Janine in Ghostbusters, the voice of Bo Peep in Toy Story, the flinty grandmother in Young Sheldon — across five decades she keeps finding the precise human note a scene needs. Her Genie Award and early Golden Globe nomination hint at the leading-lady career she might have chased, but I find her chosen path more impressive: durable, versatile, beloved. Hollywood runs on performers like her, and the fact that she rarely tops the poster only deepens my respect.
