Anohni

Anohni moves me in a way few artists do. From Chichester to New York, she built a body of work spanning music, painting, and composition, and that trembling, prayer-like voice from Antony and the Johnsons is genuinely one of a kind. What I admire most is the courage to rewrite her own name and life and pour both pain and beauty straight into the art. NYU-trained but never academic in feel, she sings from somewhere beyond technique. I hold deep reverence for anyone with a voice that imitates no one.
