My Take

Armaan Malik strikes me as an artist who refuses to be boxed in. He grew up in Mumbai, began as a child playback singer, and has since grown into a polished singer-songwriter who produces, dances and acts — and crucially, who pushes into English-language pop while still rooted in Bollywood. Winning the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Indian Act signaled that ambition paying off. I find that border-crossing drive genuinely exciting; too few South Asian pop voices reach for a global stage on their own terms. He's young, clearly versatile, and I'm eager to see how far that silken voice and restless curiosity will carry him.

Armaan Malik (born 22 July 1995) is an Indian playback singer, songwriter, voice actor, and actor. He started his career in 2007 as a child vocalist in Bollywood, making his debut with the song "Bum Bum Bole" from the film Taare Zameen Par. Malik made his first on-screen appearance in the film Kaccha Limboo in 2011. He has been associated with Universal Music India and T-Series.
