My Take

Yadel Martí intrigues me precisely because the record is so spare. A right-handed pitcher out of Havana, born in 1979, he comes from a country where baseball is practically a national religion, and earning a spot on the mound there means something. I find myself rooting for the players who slip through the cracks of the data, the ones whose stat lines never traveled far beyond the island.
