My Take
Asghar Farhadi is, for me, one of the essential filmmakers of this century. With A Separation, About Elly, and The Salesman he turned domestic life into moral suspense, building unbearable tension out of small lies and conflicting truths rather than spectacle. What I value is his refusal to hand us a villain; his films leave you arguing in the car about who was actually right, which is the highest compliment I can pay a screenwriter. The Golden Bear and the awards are deserved, but the real achievement is ethical precision. He trusts audiences to sit with ambiguity, and that trust is increasingly rare.
