My Take

What draws me to Ashmit Patel is the shape of his climb. Brother of actress Ameesha Patel, he could have coasted on the family name, yet he started behind the camera as an assistant director before earning leading roles in Hindi cinema. Actors who have lived the unglamorous side of a film set usually carry a sturdier core, and I respect that. His run to second runner-up on Bigg Boss 4 also shows a willingness to expose his real self on reality television, which takes nerve. Bollywood glamour and grind both, he walked the full road, and I find that endearing.
