My Take
Avril Lavigne is, to me, proof that conviction outlasts trends. She arrived at sixteen with a necktie, a tank top, and a sneer, and somehow turned teenage stubbornness into a global sound. What I admire most isn't the early explosion of Complicated and Sk8er Boi — it's the consistency afterward. Pop-punk fell out of fashion, came back, fell out again, and she just kept being Avril through all of it. When Canada made her a Member of the Order of Canada in 2024, it felt like the rebel kid getting a formal handshake from the establishment, and honestly, both sides earned it.
