Barry Sloane

Barry Sloane is the kind of working actor I find quietly admirable. A Liverpudlian who has moved fluidly between film, stage, television and voice work, he builds a career on craft rather than tabloid noise. His 2010 West End debut in Butterworth's Jerusalem signaled real theatrical credibility, not just screen recognition. I tend to trust performers who can carry a stage and a camera equally, and Sloane clearly can. There is a grounded, unflashy reliability to him that I associate with the best character actors. The fact that he isn't a household name reads, to me, as evidence of substance over spectacle.
