My Take
Baz Luhrmann is one of cinema's true love-him-or-loathe-him auteurs, and I land firmly in the love camp. From Romeo + Juliet to Moulin Rouge! to The Great Gatsby and Elvis, he assaults you with maximalist color, anachronistic music and operatic excess, refusing to do anything by halves.
