My Take
Bill Hudson occupies a corner of pop history I have real affection for: the cheerful, hardworking seventies entertainer. The Hudson Brothers, formed with his younger siblings back in 1965, blended harmonies and comedy in a way that put them all over American television, and his later acting turns showed an easy, likable screen presence. He is often remembered now through the famous family around him, which I think undersells the man who was charming audiences first. I respect performers who carried an era's lighthearted spirit without ever turning cynical about it, and Hudson, to my mind, is exactly that kind of figure.
