My Take
What fascinates me about Bo Burnham is how he turned a bedroom into a stage and the camera into a co-star. Plenty of comedians are funny; very few make you laugh and then quietly question the internet, fame, and your own loneliness in the same breath. His pivot to directing proved the wit was never a gimmick — it was a filmmaker's eye all along. I admire artists who refuse to repeat themselves, and Burnham seems almost allergic to it. Whenever he disappears for a few years, I assume he is building something that will redefine his form again, and I am always glad to wait.
