My Take
Brad Delson is the kind of musician I quietly admire most: the architect rather than the showman. As Linkin Park's lead guitarist and a founding member, he helped build a sound that defined a generation's adolescence, yet his real signature runs deeper into production and songwriting. The contrast tickles me, an Agoura Hills kid with a UCLA pedigree pouring that intellect into music this raw and loud. Plenty of players chase the spotlight; fewer obsess over the blueprint behind the noise. I think the durability of those records owes a great deal to a brain like his working patiently behind the riffs.
