My Take
Brian Eno might be the most influential musician who barely plays an instrument in the conventional sense, and I mean that as the highest compliment. He treats the studio itself as the instrument and ideas as the raw material: ambient music, generative systems, oblique creative strategies — frameworks other artists still live inside. Another Green World remains my favorite proof that restraint can be radical. What I respect most is his career-long refusal to settle into legacy mode; well into his seventies he still talks like a curious student. Most producers shape records; Eno reshaped what records could even be for.
