Brian France

Brian France is a fascinating study in inherited weight. As the third generation to run NASCAR, serving as CEO and chairman from 2003 to 2018 after his grandfather and father, he was effectively handed both an empire and an enormous burden. In 2018 he was arrested for DUI and oxycodone possession, stepped away from the role, and later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI. What interests me most is his move afterward, founding Silver Falcon Capital in 2019. Stepping outside the family business to test himself in private investing reads, to me, like a man trying to define success on his own terms rather than his lineage's.
