My Take
To me, Brian Stokes Mitchell embodies a kind of Broadway nobility that feels increasingly rare. That rich, commanding baritone is instantly recognizable, but what I admire most is the discipline behind it: he climbed from a Theatre World Award in 1988 to a Tony for Best Actor in a Musical in 2000, never coasting. Singer, actor, composer, he wears all three hats without diluting any. There's a warmth and dignity to his stage presence that suggests a performer who genuinely respects his craft and audience. He's the sort of leading man who makes the whole production feel more serious and more alive.
