My Take
Brian Thompson is the face you recognize even when you can't place the name, and I have enormous affection for that kind of actor. From a bit part in The Terminator to the Night Slasher in Cobra, his imposing frame and hard stare made him the ideal heavy, the villain who exists to make the hero look heroic. His turn as the immortal Bounty Hunter on The X-Files still gives me a chill. He also writes and produces, which signals a true craftsman's mindset. I will always prefer the dependable performers who quietly hold a film together over the headliners.
