My Take

What I respect most about C. J. Beathard is the unglamorous grind of being a journeyman quarterback. A third-round pick out of Iowa who bounced from the 49ers to the Jaguars to the Dolphins, he spent much of his career as the guy who has to stay ready while rarely starting. That demands a quiet, stubborn professionalism that fans rarely celebrate. I find that kind of patience more admirable than gaudy stats. Beathard, raised in Franklin, Tennessee, strikes me as the dependable backup every locker room needs, and I'll always root for the player who refuses to sulk on the bench.
