My Take
Carrot Top makes me grin before he's even said a word — that wild red hair is a punchline in itself. Born Scott Thompson in Rockledge, Florida, who went on to Florida Atlantic University, he's smarter than his prop-comedy image suggests, writing and directing as well as performing. Prop comedy is easy to sneer at, but sustaining it on the front line for decades takes real grit, and he sweats for every laugh. That a veteran born in 1965 is still packing them in nightly in Las Vegas is genuinely impressive. He bet his life on getting laughs, and I tip my hat to that craftsmanship.
